BRICK MANUFACTURING

Marisa Bricks, located in Busumbala, specialises in local resource based development of construction blocks. Its environmentally friendly production process is based on simple technology. It produces high quality fired bricks from a combination of clay sourced from local mines. The bricks are fired with waste wood up to a temperature of 1200 °C.

Employing over 40 staff members, Marisa Bricks strives to help maintain and protect the local environment. Other building alternatives, such as cement blocks, contain sand mined from the Gambian tourist populated beaches. Marisa Bricks has reduced the demand for imported cement.

Marisa Bricks is a quality product that is more solid, weighs less and provides greater insulation against heat and moisture than other building blocks.
